RB Global Inc. is seeking a Director of Payroll to join our team! This position is remote and be located anywhere in North America.
The Director of Payroll brings vast payroll expertise to our North American payroll team. Incumbent will partner and collaborate with the Total Rewards, HRIS, IT, Legal, and Accounting teams to deliver payroll services that optimize operational excellence and manage risk. This leader will be a key partner in developing and implementing strategies to systematically scale the payroll operations and related systems while maintaining quality, accuracy, internal controls, and compliance. The Payroll Director is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end payroll for 7000+ employees. This role involves directing payroll processing, optimizing payroll systems, leading and engaging the payroll team, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support business goals.
Responsabilités
- Oversee the processing of in-house payroll functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency; supports the preparation and coordination of all facets of payroll processing in North America including taxation of equity-based awards
- Guide and implement best practices for payroll procedures, including earnings, garnishments, tax withholdings, etc.
- Proactively identifies and resolves payroll discrepancies and determines the most appropriate method of communication to employees
- Develop and manage controls to ensure accurate reconciliation and payment of deductions and benefits.
- Support quarterly/annual payroll tax reconciliation/filings and ensures compliance with filing returns and tax form issuance, executing with accuracy and timeliness for all jurisdictions
- Safeguard the confidentiality of payroll and private employee information, maintaining secure payroll data.
- Lead, direct and foster collaboration with the Finance department, Legal, HR, and/or external vendors and consultants.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), FAR, Labor and Payroll Laws
- Recruit and develop the best-in-class payroll team talent that will be subject matter experts and points of contact for all internal and external payroll issues.
- Actively engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership to ensure business objectives and priorities are met and executed effectively
- Lead, coach, mentor, and train the team, including completion and achievement of team and individual goals
- Design and implement workflows and internal controls within systems to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately, timely and in compliance with federal, state, local, and country-specific laws and regulations
- Ensures compliance with SOX as appropriate
- Evaluates payroll policies, including payroll tax implications, to recommend and implement changes
- Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on payroll-related issues and compliance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline payroll processes and reduce errors.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience overseeing the processing of multi-state and multi-country payrolls for large exempt and non-exempt workforce with hands-on responsibilities
- Bachelors level degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
- Experience with Oracle Cloud HCM systems and ADP
- Experience transforming a payroll function to maximize automation, scalability, and cost-effectiveness
- Strong project management experience including the ability to manage project plans, dependencies, critical path activities, and milestones
- Highly analytical, aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and demands
- Excel in hyper-growth environments; versatile, resilient, capable of managing multiple projects and tasks
- Communicate effectively with teammates and various levels of management as well as external contacts
- Demonstrates professionalism and maturity in handling confidential information
