The Opportunity

The Sales Trainer plays a critical role in building the skills, productivity, and long‑term success of our sales organization across the EMEA regions. As a key member of the Global Sales Training team, you will be the primary training resource supporting Territory Managers (TMs), Trainee Territory Managers (TTMs), experienced Sales colleagues, and Sales & Operations leaders in Ritchie Bros. International.

In this role, you will design, deliver, and continuously improve training programs that strengthen sales capability, leadership effectiveness, and commercial performance. You will ensure that training is relevant, practical, and directly connected to the needs of the business. You will work closely with Sales Leaders, Regional Sales Managers (RSMs), Regional Operations Managers (ROM’s) to identify capability gaps, deliver practical training and coaching, and support new hires as they build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become productive in their roles. Equally important, you will assess development needs for experienced sales professionals and leaders, and facilitate targeted training that enhances advanced selling skills, leadership behaviors, and operational excellence.

You will partner with Sales Training colleagues across North America to share best practices, support global initiatives, and create greater consistency across our sales training programs.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced sales professional and facilitator who understands that effective sales training goes beyond the classroom. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in the field, coaching sales professionals and leaders, and connecting training to real business and sales performance.

Key Responsibilities

TM & TTM Onboarding

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of TM and TTM onboarding programs in partnership with Global Sales Training and regional Sales Leaders, ensuring alignment with global standards and ensuring a high‑quality onboarding experience that equips new hires with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed.
  • Partner with Sales Leaders and RSMs to evaluate new‑hire progress, identify strengths and development needs, gaps, obstacles, or systemic issues and recommend actions to accelerate productivity.
  • Gather feedback from new hires and business leaders to continuously improve the onboarding experience.

Sales Performance & Leadership Development

  • Initiate, develop and deliver ongoing training and development for TMs, TTMs, Sales Leaders, RSMs and ROMs overing sales skills, leadership capability, commercial execution, and coaching excellence.
  • Support Sales Leaders and RSMs in developing their coaching skills, leadership behaviors, and ability to drive team performance.
  • Conduct capability assessments, observe field performance, and provide clear, actionable feedback to individuals and teams.
  • Support targeted development and performance improvement initiatives based on business needs.
  • Work closely with Sales Training colleagues in North America to support global initiatives, harmonize training approaches, and share expertise.
  • Provide regional insights, market context, and lessons learned to strengthen global sales training programs and improve cross‑regional consistency.
  • Bring facilitation skills, sales expertise, and field perspective to global training initiatives, ensuring content is relevant and practical.
  • Attend and contribute to sales meetings, conferences, regional summits, and other strategic events.

Regional & Global Sales Training

Training Program & Content Improvement

  • Partner with Instructional Design and Sales Training teams to refine training programs, materials, and learning experiences, ensuring they meet evolving business needs.
  • Measure training effectiveness using feedback, performance data, and business insights, and recommend improvements to strengthen outcomes.

What You Bring

You are an experienced sales professional and facilitator who understands how sales teams operate and what it takes to translate training into improved performance. You combine commercial insight with strong people skills, enabling you to connect training content to sales execution. You build strong relationships, communicate with confidence, and you adapt your style to different audiences, cultures, and learning needs, ensuring your message lands effectively whether you are coaching a new TTM, facilitating a workshop for senior leaders, or supporting a global initiative.

You enjoy working with people and are comfortable partnering with sales professionals and leaders at all levels. You bring energy, credibility, curiosity, and a practical, collaborative approach to your work.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing and delivering training, coaching, or development programs for B2B or B2C sales teams.
  • Experience working directly with sales teams and Sales Leaders in a field or business environment.
  • A proven ability to connect training and coaching to sales performance and business outcomes.
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills with an emphasis on real-world application.
  • Experience supporting new-hire onboarding and/or sales productivity initiatives.
  • Experience partnering with Sales Leaders and RSMs to identify capability gaps and support performance improvement.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM systems, sales enablement tools, and/or other sales technology.
  • Familiarity with modern sales methodologies and sales processes.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across cultures and geographic regions.
  • Professional-level English and proficiency in a second European language, preferably French, German, Spanish, or Italian.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within EMEA and internationally as business needs require.
