Description
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Financial Accountant (FA) will be a key player in facilitating the financial reporting and compliance for multiple Canadian entities. Working closely with the Operational and Corporate Finance Teams, the FA is a key contributor to the month-end close process preparing journal entries, working papers, and variance analysis.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of relevant experience preferred in an accounting or finance role.
- University degree in finance/accounting specialization.
- Working towards CPA (preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software. Oracle is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks accordingly, and meet the expectations of multiple stakeholders (i.e. corporate finance team, external auditors, internal auditors, executives, business leaders, etc.).
- Ability to be flexible, and work collaboratively as a team, taking on new tasks as needed to achieve the goal of timely and accurate reporting.
- Proven intermediate knowledge of US GAAP.
- Ability to perform monthly analysis of financial information and obtain a thorough understanding of variances in account balances to provide meaningful commentary to senior management.
- Ability to work in the office 3 days/week.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly journals with relevant supporting working papers
- Perform monthly SG&A and P&L variance analysis for multiple entities.
- Run various reports from the accounting system to support the team.
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Other tasks as required.
