It takes a hardworking team of energetic people in a wide variety of full-time and part-time roles to conduct a successful multi-million dollar auction – from equipment inspectors, yard managers and operators to administrative staff and customer service representatives.  

Job Description

The Lead Equipment Inventory Clerk is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and accounting of all assets coming into and out of Ritchie Bros locations. This role interacts daily with operations and sales teams, as well as directly with customers. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, as well as a willingness to solve challenges in a timely and driven manner.  This is a team player role that directly impacts the efficiency and effectiveness of the location assigned.

Responsibilities

  • First point of contact for customer service queries and issues related to equipment inventory
  • Accurately administer the shipping/receiving documentation (e.g. customs, transport, taxes, etc. if applicable) related to the movement of the equipment to and from the yard of the auction site, including documentation processing within our internal systems (e.g. SaleSite, MARS, etc.), where required.
  • Accurately identify equipment serial numbers, record basic equipment descriptions and label the equipment correctly.
  • Promote a culture where the health and safety of our employees and customers is top priority for all.
  • Provide inventory statuses on all selling platforms at the location / reporting yards
  • Assist Yard Manager in removal of aged and abandoned asset disposal at facility.
  • Provide assistance as required to the Yard / RBIO Team
  • Assist Yard Manager in daily tasks managing application reporting.
  • Ensures team members follow processes and procedures set by the company and management.
  • Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • You have at least 2 to 5 years experience in a related industry.
  • Good working knowledge and experience using MS Office Suite products (e.g. Word, Excel).
  • Proficiency using technology such as computers and systems.
  • Documentation processing experience is an asset.
  • You must be process-oriented and have a strong adherence to company policies and procedures to be successful in this role.
  • An aptitude for data/numbers and some experience creating and working with spreadsheets
  • Strong written, spoken, listening, and interpersonal communication skills in English
  • Fluency in English is a must. Ability to speak other additional languages would be considered an asset. 
  • A solid knowledge or desire to gain knowledge of construction equipment and trucks. 
  • Strong customer service orientation. You have a natural ease dealing with customers. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, you’re the type that leaves no detail unattended.
  • Excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task multiple projects and initiatives effectively and prioritize work are essential.
  • Highly capable of meeting strict deadlines in a high-pressure, ever-changing environment. You must also have the ability to adapt to shifting
  • Work both indoors and outdoors year-round, and climb on and off large equipment and trucks
