About The Team

We conduct hundreds of live auctions each year around the world. It takes a hardworking team of energetic people in a wide variety of full-time and part-time roles to conduct a successful multi-million dollar auction – from equipment inspectors, yard managers and operators to administrative staff and customer service representatives.  

Job Description

The Equipment Manager is responsible for managing, monitoring, maintain and enforcing the auction site’s Detailed Equipment Information (DEI) Program standards and procedures. This role is based on site in Grande Prairie.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, maintain and enforce the auction site’s Detailed Equipment Information (DEI) Program standards, procedures, sequencing, map development, site development, set up execution, best practices and guidelines
  • Ensure equipment inventory control systems and equipment data collection processes are in place for all on the farm auctions, at applicable auction sites, including temporary offsite sale locations (e.g. inspections, photos, insurance and re-consignments, etc).
  • Assume full accountability for DEI quality control (e.g. equipment photographs and descriptions, etc) throughout heavy auction seasons of spring, summer and fall.
  • Effectively manage and coach DEI team and Auction Coordinating team including setting performance objectives and conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Assist the Training Department with developing and delivering related training / certification programs to employees as required.
  • Oversee the auction site’s customer service levels surrounding DEI and Site Coordination including addressing and resolving escalated customer inquiries and issues.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and generate detailed reports on key DEI operational areas.
  • Recommend best practices to improve DEI and Auction Coordination efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee development of sale advertising materials (e.g. brochures).
  • Manage all DEI related equipment documentation.
  • Promote a culture where the health and safety of our employees and customers is top priority for all.
  • Assist the Sales team with appraisals and write-ups in the field between peak periods.
  • Assist DEI team in field during peak periods as necessary.
  • Manage vehicle fleet and RB equipment assets within the division
  • Actively support the RB Unreserved Commitment to Safety: to send everyone home, every day, the way they came to work, by taking personal responsibility for your safety and safety of your team, co-workers and customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in equipment management (inspections, coordination, inventory and appraisals) and/or inventory control management, preferably in the auction or heavy equipment business.
  • 5+ years supervising and leading a team. Proven strong leadership and coaching skills are required for this role.
  • Proficient using computers, MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel) and digital cameras.
  • Quality Assurance experience is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (on this job your most valuable tool will be the 2-way radio, a cell phone and a desk phone).
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Sales and Operational teams, as well as customers. You must have a strong customer service orientation.
  • Process-oriented, hands-on and ready to roll up your sleeves to succeed in this role.
  • Excellent organizational skills -- you’re the type that leaves no detail unattended.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to identify issues, develop solutions and drive resolution.
  • Capable of meeting strict deadlines in a high-pressure, ever-changing environment. You must also have the ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Able to work independently, but also collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. You thrive working as part of a team and pitch in whenever needed.
  • Solid proficiency level using current MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and self directed with the ability to think quickly and make decisions on your feet.
  • Excellent time management skills, and ability to multi-task multiple projects and initiatives effectively and prioritize work.
  • Experience travelling and commuting from place to place and ensuring a high level of efficiency.
