Job Description

The Financial Accountant is responsible for general accounting tasks related to period end closing, daily reconciliation of company bank accounts, and working with various Finance teams to investigate and resolve returns, rejections, fraud etc. Working closely with the Operational and Corporate Finance Teams, the Financial Accountant will support key initiatives including enhancing business processes and the optimization of the close process.

Responsibilities

  • Daily reconciliation of company bank accounts
  • Summarize resulting outstanding items
  • Working with various Finance teams to investigate and resolve returns, rejections, fraud etc.
  • Making journal entries (JE’s), as required for relevant Treasury transfers
  • Coordinate with Treasury to track and journalize accruals
  • Updates of relevant shared files and folders (cash reports, trackers, bank statements etc.)
  • Liaising with relevant teams to clear outstanding items at month-end
  • Preparation on month-end bank rec summaries
  • Additional ad-hoc duties as required by the Manager

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred in an accounting or finance role
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software. Oracle is an asset
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping competencies
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
