About The Team

We conduct hundreds of live auctions each year around the world. It takes a hardworking team of energetic people in a wide variety of full-time and part-time roles to conduct a successful multi-million dollar auction – from equipment inspectors, yard managers and operators to administrative staff and customer service representatives.  

Job Description

  • The Yard Manager II is responsible for supervising larger team of employees (large volume branch), monitoring lot inventory/infrastructure, preparing/preserving vehicles, ensuring that the lot is properly set up in preparation for auctions, and maintaining inventory of vehicles/parts

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, engaged, and positive work environment
  • Oversee the set-up of the facility for auctions
  • Actively enforce company policy, reporting or responding appropriately to all violations or reports of violations.
  • Maintaining inventory of vehicles/parts
  • Responding to customer needs
  • Ensuring compliance with operational standards
  • Ability to apply appropriate use of security, maintenance, and safety procedures to protect Company and customer assets.
  • Ability to avoid accidents by recognizing potentially unsafe situations and responding appropriately when accidents occur.
  • Ability to follow appropriate industry-specific regulations related to the handling of hazardous materials.
  • Recommend or perform personnel actions such as salary increases, performance reviews, hiring, and disciplinary action
  • Communicate job expectations and planning, monitoring and appraising job results
  • Develops, coordinates and enforces systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards
  • Develop and build new strategies for our refurbishing/wash facility 
  • Develop and build new relationships with 3rd party contracts and permanent employees for refurbishing/wash facility
  • Manager all operating permits associated with requirements
  • Manage full compliance of refurbishing/wash facility
  • Manage documentation and administrative processes 
  • Manage internal and external customer inquiries and obligations 
  • Manage direct expenses
  • Duties are subject to change, based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the equipment rental or construction industry and/or related fields preferred.
  • Previous forklift operating experience is a plus.
  • Basic automotive repair skills.
  • Proficiency with handheld PDA.
  • Must be willing to learn how to operate a forklift.
  • Capable of interacting effectively and supportively with customers & towers.
  • Capable of performing and/or assisting with light maintenance of vehicles.
  • Must be able to perform activities that involve stooping, bending, standing, and walking for reasonable periods.
  • This position involves primarily outdoor work in all types of weather.
  • General mechanical knowledge of makes and models of vehicles required.
  • Ability to function well as part of a team.
  • Must remain alert to potential hazards associated with heavy equipment and other vehicles operated in their work area.
  • Heavy equipment operating experience is a plus
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Able to communicate effectively with team and customers
  • General mechanical knowledge of vehicle makes/models
  • Clean background & drug screen required
  • Work evenings, nights, and/or weekends, as necessary.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors year-round, and climb on and off large equipment and trucks
