Job Description

  • The Accounting Manager has the responsibility for internal controls and ensuring compliance with sound accounting practices. This role will focus largely on the integrity and accuracy of financial statements and the month-end close at several Ritchie Brothers properties, including journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis. The position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and supports the auction operations business.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly invoice processing and collections cycle, including the preparation of financial and management reports to assure that the accounting records and related reports are complete, accurate, timely, relevant and responsive
  • Evaluate current accounting systems and implement changes as appropriate to improve operations, specifically the financial reporting system and AMP/Pentaho
  • Establish and maintain accounting processes, procedures, and controls appropriate to the organization
  • Provide support to the Controller with the financial reporting processes and procedures
  • Develop a standardized monthly reporting package and prepare monthly.
  • Manage cash flow.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Liaise with auction site personnel to ensure effective communication flows and resolve accounting related issues in the field. Continuously seeks to implement process efficiencies working with Sales and Operations in a collaborative and team-like manner.
  • Participate in company level projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years’ experience in all aspects of accounting.
  • Proven supervisory experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Previous project management experience desired.
  • Experience and education must combine to yield a high level of technical expertise and analytical ability.
  • Dependable, flexible, team-oriented and willing to take initiative to see work through to completion.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication, organizational and analytical skills
