It takes a hardworking team of energetic people in a wide variety of full-time and part-time roles to conduct a successful multi-million dollar auction – from equipment inspectors, yard managers and operators to administrative staff and customer service representatives.  

Job Description

  • The Assistant Regional Operations Manager (AROM) will play an integral leadership role in managing the administrative functions, appraisal and contract management, customer service, buyers and sellers, marketing and all buyer/seller related issues for farm equipment and offsite auction business. Reports to and provides direct support to the Divisional Operations Manager (DOM). Shares ownership, accountability and responsibility for achieving the regional operating budgets while holding to the highest standards of customer service. All regional administrative staff and customer service staff that manage and support the farm equipment auction business reports directly or indirectly to the (A)ROM.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the DOM, and in alignment with the corporate strategy, plans, develops and executes the annual regional operating business plan (action plans) and budgets to deliver annually targeted and longer term regional financial performance.
  • Manages the performance accountability of direct reports for the region including succession planning, career planning and compensation.
  • Ensure all aspects of auction operations related to the administration team are carried out, i.e., pre-sale, sale day and post-sale. focused priorities include attention to collections and accounts receivable issues, customer issues and resolution, integration with various departments at Head Office and administration of storage and tax policies.
  • Manages the sale brochures, the sale day catalogue, along with staffing and auctioneer schedules including the administration of Auction Event Planner (AEP).
  • Serves as the lead in fostering a culture of clear direct communication among peer management team and throughout the office so that roles and responsibilities are understood, inter-region and interdepartmental cooperation is encouraged, and employee engagement is maximized.
  • Develops a strong partnership with Regional Sales Managers (RSM) to promote a high level of communication between RSM, ROM & DOM. Meets regularly with the DOM to review overall financial performance for the region. Develops plans to deal with problems and resolve issues.
  • Partners with the DOM, and Core Prairie Division to deliver a consistent auction experience to consignors, bidders and buyers by adhering to established auction policies and procedures and championing best practice solutions.
  • Ensures regional activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
  • Promotes a culture where the health and safety of employees and customers is top priority for all.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing and/or directing an operations team in a quota-driven business environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing business plans to support evolving business goals, including delivering and executing on these strategies.
  • Strong business acumen: knowledge of business theory, business processes and operations, management principles and budgets.
  • Strong leadership, management and coaching skills are essential.
  • A high degree of customer service orientation.
  • Previous experience working effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
