Job Description
The Payroll Lead will have primary day-to-day responsibility for processing payroll for 6,500+ employees in North America. The role is responsible for the coordination of payroll processing operations, including monitoring workflows and processing deadlines. The Payroll Lead verifies accurate calculation of wages, tax withholding, and company deductions, along with assisting team members with resolving errors or responding to escalated inquiries. Additionally, the role may prepare reports on employee pay, commissions and bonuses; time off, disability and workers compensation leave; taxes, withholding, etc. The incumbent is a subject matter expert on North American company policies, regulations, and processes. The successful Payroll Lead is collaborative, hands-on, results-oriented, innovative, and operates with the utmost integrity, embracing RB Global’s “One Team All-In” mentality. This is a remote role. Preferred locations for our ideal candidate include: Chicago, IL, Burnaby/Vancouver, BC, Canada, or Dallas, TX.
Responsibilities
- Process and manage bi-weekly payroll processing and all supplementals (stock, bonus, ad hoc payments etc.)
- Assist with timekeeping, reporting, manager approvals and mass submitting of timecards for payroll processing.
- Calculate payroll and run payroll flows for costing and audit reports.
- Responsible for payroll compliance and maintains up-to-date knowledge and understanding of North American payroll laws, regulations, policies and controls governing payroll operations.
- Supports the treasury and accounting teams with payroll reconciliations.
- Perform year-end responsibilities for payroll team.
- Designated contact for with internal company departments (Service Center, Accounting, Treasury, HRIS) for the resolution of escalated employee, manager or payroll related questions.
- Manage external relationships with payroll vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of company payroll data.
- Provide indirect leadership/training to a team of 3-4 payroll professionals in all activities necessary to process the bi-weekly, multi-state/province, US and Canadian payrolls for 6,500+ employees.
- Independently seeks ways to improve and develop efficiencies and maintain Standard Operation Procedures for payroll processes and procedures.
- Work on assignments and projects that are moderately complex, requiring autonomous judgement in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert related to payroll rules and regulations within Canada and across the US.

Qualifications
- Accounting/Business Degree or equivalent experience.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) given preference.
- 4-6 years direct multi-state/provincial payroll experience (North America) Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to gather and evaluate complex data and information and develop a recommendation and plan of action.
- Must have experience working with Oracle Cloud.
- Mathematical competency.
