Job Description

The Engineering Manager, Infrastructure manages day-to-day task assignments and support duties related to our Cloud Infrastructure to ensure the availability, scalability, and reliability of our cloud-based applications.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Manage multiple cloud infrastructure projects and engineering staff.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement technical solutions that align with business requirements and drive customer success.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and troubleshooting to resolve issues with deployed systems, including security, performance, and networking issues.
  • Respond off-hours to alerts for our infrastructure.
  • Mentor and provide direction to other Infrastructure Engineering team members.
  • Be the standard bearer for Infrastructure Engineering team coding, documentation, and Infrastructure as Code practices.


Skills and Experience
 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Expert level knowledge of one of the major public cloud technologies (AWS/GCP preferred).
  • Hands on experience with Linux.
  • Hands on experience with Kubernetes.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, Go.
  • Proven experience in implementing cloud governance and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • At least one year of experience managing cloud infrastructure engineers.
  • Solid understanding of SRE principles and practices, including monitoring, incident response, capacity planning, and performance optimization.


Expected Outcomes (first 12 months)

  • Maintain and enhance cloud infrastructure practices, ensuring adherence to company standards.
  • Keep up with daily needs of our operational team(s).
  • Supervise other infrastructure engineers and grow the team as needed.
  • Be active in the Rouse Engineering community, performing code reviews and sharing knowledge.
