The Opportunity
Reporting to the Equipment Manager, this role is ideal for someone ‘hands-on’, who enjoys working with customers, and who has an eagle eye for detail.
In this role, you’ll:
- Be the first point of contact for customer questions and issues related to the heavy equipment inventory
- Administer shipping & receiving documents related to the movement of the equipment to and from the auction site, and enter related information into the appropriate software systems
- Accurately identify equipment serial numbers, record basic equipment descriptions and label the equipment correctly
- Promote a culture where the health and safety of our employees and customers is top priority for all
- Provide assistance as required to the rest of the Detailed Equipment Inspection (DEI) Team
- Assist the Sales team with appraisals and write-ups in the field between peak periods, as required
Here’s what you bring:
- 1 to 2+ years of similar experience.
- High school graduate. Any post-secondary education is an asset.
- Knowledge of -- or the desire to learn about -- construction equipment and trucks.
- Proficient with computers and good working knowledge/experience using MS Office Suite products (e.g. Word, Excel). Documentation processing experience is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- You must be process-oriented and comfortable adhering to company policies and procedures to be successful in this role.
- Strong customer service orientation. You have a natural ease of dealing with customers.
- Excellent organizational skills. You’re the type that leaves no detail unattended.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
- Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and self-directed, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively. You thrive working as part of a team and pitch in wherever needed.
- You like to work hard but still have fun on the job.
This job will require you to:
- Have a valid, clean driver’s license.
- Work both indoors and outdoors year-round and climb on and off large equipment and trucks.
- Work regular overtime, including weekend hours. You can expect to work extra hours prior to each sale, during each sale, and after each sale.
- Travel to other auction sites.
