Working directly with the Vice President, Group Operations (“VP Ops”) the successful candidate will play an integral role within our international group, leading our UK Operations team in providing an unparalleled customer experience and overseeing the operational management for the region. 

You will need to form a strong partnership with the Regional Sales Manager, maintaining a high level of communication and working together to achieve annual objectives for the region. You will be responsible for achieving regional operating budgets & SLA’s whilst holding the operations team to the highest standards of customer service.  All regional operations staff will report directly or indirectly to the ROM.

Responsibilities

  • You will oversee all aspects of auction site management and devise & implement initiatives that continuously drive operational efficiencies and an enhanced customer experience. 
  • You will coach and mentor your direct reports, conducting regular check in meetings to provide constructive feedback and help to develop your top talent, ensuring that they have clear direction and understanding of your expectations and their responsibilities. 
  • Working with the VP Ops, you will plan, develop and execute the annual regional operating business plan and budgets that will deliver targeted revenue and operating profit, ensuring they are always aligned with the corporate strategy.
  • You will create a strong, strategic platform that facilitates growth and strengthens customer relationships with buyers and sellers, suppliers and the local community.
  • Develop, in consultation with the VP Ops, return on investment (ROI) business cases for all capital investment requests in the region.
  • You will ensure compliance with Ritchie Bros. policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations which will provide for an efficient and safe operation of the business unit. 
  • You will lead by example, living our core values and fostering a culture of effective teamwork and a “can do” attitude, all while ensuring maximum employee engagement.
  • You will promote a culture where the health and safety of our employees and customers is top priority for everyone.

Qualifications

  • University degree in the field of Business Management or Commerce and/or 10 years of related work experience.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing and/or directing an operations team in an international quota-driven business environment.
  • Strong leadership, management and coaching skills are essential. 
  • Demonstrated experience in creating business plans to support evolving business goals, including delivering and executing on these strategies. 
  • Strong business acumen: knowledge of business theory, business processes and operations, management principles and budgets. 
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. 
  • Proven experience with business development of added services and a global thinker who possesses the ability to critically assess alternative opportunities and exercise good judgment. 
  • Excellent networking, communication and presentation skills at all levels, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highest level of customer-centric thinking and a strong ability to create value-adding, win-win relationships at all levels. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills at all levels and a listening ear, receptive to ideas and input from the team.
  • Previous experience working successfully in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. 
  • Fluency (oral and written) in English. 
  • Fluency in a second language is preferred but not required.
  • Some travel is required.
