Description
The Senior Financial Accountant plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting and compliance as a U.S. listed public company. The Senior Financial Accountant will contribute to both external financial reporting and internal financial analysis, reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Reporting, and working closely with cross-functional teams including Control, Legal, Tax and senior leaders. This is a hybrid role (3 days in office) based in Burnaby, BC.
Qualifications
- CPA or equivalent designation (or significant progress towards)
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public company financial reporting, public accounting, or some combination thereof.
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) is an asset.
- Technical knowledge of accounting principles and SEC reporting requirements; US GAAP experience is an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Experience with MD&A/management commentary and SEC/SEDAR+ filings preferred.
Responsibilities
- External Reporting & Financial Analysis
- Support senior management by preparing detailed and succinct financial analysis to assess business performance and trends on a sector, geographic, and consolidated basis.
- Prepare portions of Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and other disclosures for quarterly and annual filings (Form 10-Q/10-K).
- Facilitate the SEC and SEDAR+ filing processes to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
- Compensation Accounting
- Prepare detailed account reconciliations related to RB’s short-term incentive plans (STIPs).
- Reconciliations & Journal Entries
- Perform regular balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation in compliance with US GAAP and internal controls.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the corporate annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Control, Legal, and Tax teams to support consolidated reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with Legal on disclosures, filings, and governance matters.
- Other Duties
- Assist with annual goodwill impairment assessments by reporting unit.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.
