Job Description

  • The Technical Product Owner (TPO) for Ritchie Bros. Financial Services is responsible for defining product enhancements to support key business initiatives and for guiding the development, deployment, and support of all owned product capabilities. The TPO will work with business champions and business analysts to understand and capture needs and manage grooming sessions to inform product and sprint backlogs. The TPO will coordinate with development teams to ensure all technical requirements are comprehensively defined and understood by developers, quality assurance and system integrators. The TPO will also ensure that new features and enhancements are supported with documentation and training as required.

Responsibilities

  • Help manage the product roadmap for your assigned product and business function(s).
  • Work with business and technical teams to understand and improve business processes including documentation of, and enhancements to, SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing product capabilities and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these capabilities.
  • Assist in the planning, and guide the design, development, and deployment of new product capabilities and enhancements to existing capabilities.
  • Create models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to development teams.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of all enterprise systems both in-house and cloud based
  • Create and/or groom product backlog items ensuring that enhancements and fixes are prioritized and delivered per an agreed-upon schedule.
  • Support and coordinate end-user reviews, for new and modified product capabilities.
  • Provide orientation and training to end users for new and modified product capabilities.
  • Support development of technical support documentation for transition to Production Support group(s)
  • Conduct research, and gap analysis on product proposals to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products. Creation and management of product roadmaps an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate ideas to both technical and business audiences.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with varying stakeholders to reach consensus on scope and timelines.
  • Great organizational skills
