Position Overview
We are seeking a highly strategic SeniorDirector of Engineering Enablement reporting directly to the CTO to lead initiatives that enhance engineering productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. In this role, you will work closely with engineering, product, and design teams to implement best practices, optimize development workflows, and foster a high-performance engineering culture. Using a customer focused Product mindset, you will drive the adoption of tools, automation, and processes that empower engineers to innovate and deliver high-quality software with speed and reliability. A proactive mindset about risk, scalability, and continuous improvement is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the OCTO to develop and execute a roadmap for engineering enablement, aligning with business and technical goals to drive high-impact outcomes.
- Process Optimization: Identify waste and inefficiencies in software value streams and implement scalable solutions that reduce friction and accelerate development cycles.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, product management, and design teams to create seamless collaboration and alignment on technical initiatives.
- Technology and Tooling: Evaluate, implement, and drive adoption of modern tools, automation frameworks, and development best practices to streamline software delivery.
- Engineering Culture and Enablement: Cultivate a high-performance engineering environment by mentoring and empowering teams, fostering continuous learning, and advocating for industry best practices.
- Performance Metrics and Insights: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure engineering effectiveness and continuously improve developer experience.
- Talent Development: Mentor and support engineers, providing guidance on career growth, technical skills, and leadership development.
- Thought Leadership: Advocate for modern engineering enablement strategies, contributing to internal and external discussions on software development best practices.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, engineering leadership, or engineering enablement roles.
- Proven track record of optimizing engineering workflows and driving large-scale productivity improvements.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), XP methodologies, and DevOps best practices and what is relevant today in a modern cloud native environment.
- Experience implementing developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks to enhance engineering effectiveness.
- Deep technical expertise in modern development stacks, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Passion for fostering engineering culture, continuous learning, and talent development.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive technical change and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong background in data-driven decision-making, using metrics and analytics to assess and enhance engineering performance.
- Experience leading distributed teams in remote or hybrid work environments.
