Job Description
The Workers Compensation Administrator assists in the administration of RB Global. workers compensation program. Reporting to the Director EHS, this position is involves coordinating all aspects and phases of workplace injury claims, from initial reporting and investigation to orchestrating appropriate medical treatment and return to work plans. Ongoing communication with employees, supervisors, insurance carriers and medical personnel is essential. This position will partner with safety teams, claim adjusters, insurance brokers, and other internal and external groups to review, investigate, and assist in the decisions regarding coverage, compensability, and loss control initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Daily workers compensation claims reporting and monitoring
- Consistent communication with claimants, department supervisors, human resources, medical personnel and claims adjusters
- Coordinate and participate in quarterly claims reviews with the insurance carriers
- Responsible to accurately report and produce annual OSHA 300 and 300A logs
- Prepare monthly and annual reports of claims, lost time, and financial summaries as needed or requested
- Identify loss drivers and claims trends to reduce claims frequency and severity through data analysis and improved claim management
- Determine actual time missed from work due to work related injuries and illnesses and provides accurate information to meet OSHA record-keeping requirements.
- Communicate benefits and program goals with managers and injured workers for the purpose of loss control.
- Assist with other EHS management and insurance related projects as required or requested
- Review all open claims and meet with the Director EHS weekly to ensure timely handling of claims and explore opportunities for cost containment and potential recoveries
- Maintain accuracy of claims data and loss history in electronic claims system ( We do not have an electronic claims system in place and no plans to obtain one)
- Conduct workers' compensation claims investigations and directs third party claims adjusting administrator workers' compensation claims investigation activities.
- Assure prompt and appropriate medical treatment and follow up of injured workers. Coordinate care plans and back to work strategies to minimize lost time.
- Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience with Workers Compensation Claims management (this seems to be quite high for the role and salary grade)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Workers' Compensation claims management related laws and medical and legal terminology
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and large inventory of open claims with high attention to detail.
- Ability to achieve successful outcomes on claims and other projects with minimal oversight.
- Develop and maintain close communication with medical providers providing services for injured employees and serves as the liaison between medical providers, injured employees and department supervisors.
- Review and approve all claim settlements proposed by the third-party claims adjusting administrator.
- Develop, implement and monitor workers' compensation claims reporting forms, procedures and activities.
